The Gallery Tarbut.ru features Israeli artists, primarily emigrants from Russia and the former USSR countries. The group consists of many artists working in different medias of modern art. The sole condition of being accepted into the group is mastership and the demand for the artist’ works by spectators and potential buyers. It was necessary to create such a group because Israeli art market is rather closed and corporative. We don’t think that artist who is working in traditional manner is hopelessly out of date and the future belongs to computer technologies. We are deeply convinced that art can’t be modern or out of date, we think that the one only criterion is the demand by people. Our art is always an attempt of creating a dialogue with the spectator rather than an arrogant monologue of someone who thinks himself above the spectator and his opinions about the art are the supreme ones. The condition of modern art market shows us that in spite of opinions forced by some art dealers, the traditional art has a constant demand and popularity. The most important value for us is the emotional and spiritual part of the art works rather than the attempt to impress the spectator by unusual construction and the pretentious new idea portrayed into it. It would be a mistake to think that we oppose the digital or any other media of the modern art, we only believe that nobody has a right to force his own opinions upon people and to present it as absolute truth.Invite our group at the Florence Biennale 2009 - is only convincing proof of our righteousness
